Operationalization
Version 2.0.1 introduces different versions of IW+, namely, the Footprint, Expert and Midpoint versions of IW+.
Expert Version
A version including all 27 damage categories of IW+, tailored for experts.
Midpoint Version
Focused on the 18 midpoint categories of IW+.
Footprint Version
Tailored for non-expert users, this version simplifies interpretation by providing a reduced set of indicators specifically focusing on those commonly used by decision-makers. These indicators are defined and calculated to prevent double counting and minimize the risk of misinterpretation when considered collectively.
Users can choose the version that aligns with their expertise, making the IMPACT World+ experience more tailored and user-friendly.
Update and correction of caracterization factors
Midpoint Climate Change
The midpoint Climate Change indicators has been updated with the IPCC2021 AR6 values to ensure alignment with the most recent advancements in scientific research. Note that damage categories for these categories are still based on AR5 values and will be updated in later versions of IW+.
Land Transformation/Occupation
An average characterization factor was calculated to characterize “unspecified” land transformation/occupation flows and some characterization factors were corrected . These changes aim to enhance the representativeness of the inventory.
